Two Sides Of The Coin

People of the first world are raised in a way such that they would view one thing to be right, and another to be wrong. Many of us mature with the mindset that there is always the good guys and the bad guys. they tend to favor those who "seem" to be the good guys, and stereotype the bad guys whether it is by looks, reputation, role and status. Thus there are bias on gender, race, skin tone, religion, economic status and so on. But have they ever realize that there are two sides on a coin and not just one?

Well... Things just doesn't seem right at home. In this era, parents are supposed to be reprimanding their children for surfing the Internet for too long. They should be telling us to go out more often and stuff. Either my statement is wrong, or I am living in a parallel universe. I am the one who goes outdoors often, play basketball with friends or alone, or workout in the gymnasium with peers or rarely alone. Whereas both my siblings spend more than half their life playing Dota and Diablo III and many other crap. And yet, I am the one who gets scolded for using my laptop for too long and refuse to go outdoors. Is 1.5 hours a day long as compared to 9~10 hours a day? Maybe they don't see the true picture because their Asian eyes are too small, and both of them are working...

Another thing really wrong about my home is favoritism. Perhaps those "only child in the house" people should be thankful this never happened instead of feeling sad for not having a sibling. There is bound to be sibling rivalry in my house, and I am clearly the one in the loss, no matter how hard I fight. What is the point of trying if I already know that something is really wrong with the minds of the "competition"? I am the one who aspires and strives for the special things in the world, while my siblings fear risks and opt to be average people with mundane, average lives. My elder brother got 20+ for his L1R5, and 16 for his L1R4, and my mother praised him for being "hard-working and diligent and never refuse to give up". On the other hand, I got a 15 for my L1R5, and 12 for L1R4. This is better, since the lower the better. Yet my mother refused to even look at my paper, and said, "So what?" It is so obvious there is favoritism... For their information, a one-dollar coin has a flower and a "$1" in front, and a Singaporean "Coat of Arms" at the back.

I am sure most of you know of how people differentiate one another by white and black? Well, it is really evident on the Internet. Internet, the place where history is preserved and mocked at. The tension between both sides today is really small as compared to history, where prejudice was obvious yet never realized. The black people were once turned into slaves and many things unimaginable by the white people. I am not going to repeat all these things in this post. Anyways, the people who belong to this prejudicial conflict failed to realize that they actually belong to the same species of "homo sapiens", and god... They could respect chimpanzees more than they respect one another...

I find it funny that certain dramas on TV are propaganda towards their "morality", whether they alter or strengthen. Take some of the Korean dramas(set somewhere on the classical Korean era) for instance. Most of them place the rich nobles in the place of antagonists, and the hero among the peasants in the place of protagonist. Everything they do point out their roles, like nobles throwing money at beggars, the main protagonist dressed in rags get pushed around by rich nobles, but does good things for the poor people... All these are, in my point of view, propaganda to show people that rich people are the filth, not the poor nor working class. Hence many of us began to stereotype one another. There are many other things that are stereotypes, such as Koreans are pro-gamers, all Asian people have small eyes and are really smart, black people like to steal, and red-haired people(commonly known to stereotypes as 'gingers') have no souls. Ass... All these were definitely started by something...

Any of you played Skyrim would know of a civil war in the game, am I right? The developer certainly did a great job in making the players think. There is the imperial legion, which the dense gamer simply close their eyes and pledge allegiance, just because they seem to be the good guys, the "mainstream". Then again, there is a rebellion who are more towards glory and honor instead of diplomacy and drinking milk. Common gamers would choose the former in protection of their obsession towards the race they chose in-game(You know, elves, orcs, lizards, cats and all that?). The legion of the game seems to be much more general towards the races than the rebellion who favors Nordic people only. Hence many consider the anti-rebels to be good guys. But do they truly understand the role of the rebels, that they remain true to their ancestors' way of life?

It is not that I am rebelling against my parents. I just chose my lifestyle which they refuse to understand and insist that i am one. Well, I am not the only one, I am glad to say. There are many other classmates, school-mates, ex-schoolmates and colleagues who would say the same. Favoritism or no favoritism, they also mentioned their parents refusing to understand them, let alone spending time to really observe everything. How I wish people could open their hearts and minds to understand us instead of being lazy towards themselves and refuse to change...
