The 'O' Levels are meant to keep express students like us busy. Yet there are still some who have yet to be convinced of the education propaganda "Less slack, more work". Among one of these people would be the notorious Christ Church Secondary's champion of depression, Ray. I do salute him for taking the opportunity to study out with his friend. However, in my own philosophical view, he has yet to achieve inner peace. He has a long way to go.
Inner peace is not the mentality of ignoring flaws to avoid hindrances. In fact, ignorance only serves to cripple even the sturdiest of warlords. This notion has, in fact, a very direct description to that punk. Sure, he deserves credit for studying even during those rare well-deserved rest, but that is also the problem. He still don't know how to ACCEPT facts.
He ain't wrong for asking us out today. He did ask me out this morning. That was okay. However, when it comes to asking my two other bros, BX and Bran, is where his flaws surfaces from his deep, complex mind. I am convinced to why so many people dread socializing with the likes of him. I am also quite convinced of why his crush, Victoria, avoided him. Truth is... He committed a sin so heavy that not a single MAN should have did: being self-centered.
Asking people to fulfill his promise without considering the circumstances. He's practically too selfish. Can anyone board a 40-minutes-each train ride back and forth, eat and chat, all after 4pm. Dude, we are from the northern part of Singapore. So what if Singapore is a small country? To travel there by the fastest transport possible can take up a total of 80 minutes of wasting time. Hanging out doesn't depend on the place, it should depend on the mood of the people being asked out for...
Next thing is... About another friend of mine: the Presbyterian High dude with an inextinguishable Will of Fire, BX. His mood is clearly stressed by the upcoming exam of our lives. By common senses, it is normal for youths like us to be deprived of our moods because of the second examination that will determine our future lives. However, he is not me. He ain't me, Al. His mood ain't sensitive to changes of surroundings and situations. This mean that... He can't cheer up freely at will. This is one of the reasons why I'm concerned about him. After all, he belongs to the Brotherhood.
On the way home, whatever he told me made me come to a general conclusion: he wants control over his 'id and ego'. He don't want to be distracted by the 'social world of fun', with Timezone and LAN for examples. He wants a clear mind to focus and thus strive for a great future.
As for me... I don't think I need immediate aid. Yet I don't look as if I have no problems at all either. I just have to get along with some of my classmates, and the teachers too... Have I ever mentioned that the school attendants know me very well for politeness? I have made it a habit to say "Uncle 早" or "Aunty 早", and their replies would be "早!" or "Hey".
If only life was... merrier...
